Sealants
Dental sealants prevent cavities from forming on the chewing surfaces,
the “pits and fissures” of the back teeth, or molars. Sealants give the teeth a smooth surface, making them less likely to trap food and easier to clean.
The sealant looks and acts like a natural tooth.
While sealants have been standard practice for about the past 25 years on children’s teeth, adults who are especially susceptible to tooth decay would also profit from the application. Sealants not only prevent cavities from forming in the natural “valleys” of molars, but also stop the progress of decay. The benefits are immediate and long-lasting. |
